General Information

*** American Academy of Ballet leotards with the AAB logo are available for some levels and can be purchased at the Academy.

Ballet I, Ballet II and Ballet III should purchase their leotards at the studio. (Cost $20.00)

Ballet A and Ballet B also must purchase their dance dresses at the studio. (Cost $25.00) All leotards come with the AAB logo.

REGISTRATION FEE

There is a $25.00 registration fee due upon registration and a $10.00 fee for each additional child in the same family.

INSURANCE

Due to the high cost of liability insurance, there is a $10 insurance fee charged for each student.

CLASSROOM ATTIRE

All Ballet students must wear pink tights and ballet slippers with elastic.

Boys wear white slippers and socks with black tights.

NO UNDERWEAR ALLOWED UNDER TIGHTS.

Plastic pants or body-suits are NOT ALLOWED in the classroom.

Skirts are allowed ONLY in Pointe Class.

OBSERVATION DAYS

Parents are invited to observe class on watching days. They are the 1st class in November and February. Exact dates will be posted at the studio.

STUDIO PERFORMANCE

At the end of May the students of the American Academy present a performance for their parents and friends. All students Pre II and up are required to participate in this demonstration as part of their training. There is a $25.00 NON-REFUNDABLE performance fee due February 1st. Classes continue through Mid-June and June tuition is payable before the May performance.

PRE-BALLET CLASSES

There are two levels of Pre-Ballet classes. (Creative movement and introduction to Ballet) Pre-Ballet I is for 4 year old children and Pre-Ballet II is for 5 year old. Pre-Ballet II students participate in the studio performance in June. Pre-Ballet I students have their own in-studio performance and reception for family and friends in mid-June.

FAIRYTALE DANCE

Classes are offered for 3 year old on weekday and Sat. mornings. This class introduces very young children to music appreciation, creative movement and very basic ballet through the use of small instruments, scarves, masks, butterfly wings, wands, tutus, parachutes etc. The focus is on exploring their creativity while having fun. Music and Movement students have an in-studio performance and reception for their family and friends in mid-June. Requirements: Must be 3 by October and toilet trained.

COSTUME FEE

A $20.00 non-refundable Costume Fee for all classes is due March 10th.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS

The studio is closed on the following days: Columbus Day observed, Thanksgiving weekend and Memorial Day observed. For Easter, Christmas, and Spring & Winter breaks follow the Williamsville/Clarence School District closings. For weather related school closing information: WIVB-TV Channel 4, WGRZ-TV Channel 2 or WKBW-TV Channel 7.

CANCELATIONS

There is a minimum required enrollment for a class to be held. We reserve the right to cancel any class and a refund is guaranteed.

AAB NUTCRACKER

Our annual Nutcracker production takes place the first weekend in December (this year on December 3rd & 4th) at UB Center for the Arts. Students who have completed Ballet I and above may audition for the children's roles. Auditions are on a Sat. and Sun. in September and detailed information is posted in the studios.
